2021 All-IVC Baseball: Strasburg's Saurenheimer, Tusky Valley's Phillips headline team selections

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio - Sunday's voting for the Inter-Valley Conference's all-conference selections saw Strasburg senior Scottie Saurenheimer and Tuscarawas Valley's Tanner Phillips took Player of the Year honors in the North and South Divisions, respectively.
Saurenheimer, who worked most of this season as the Tigers' ace right-hander, is 5-0 with a 0.23 ERA over five appearances. In his most recent start, a 6-0 sectional semifinal win over Bridgeport, Saurenheimer threw a complete-game shutout with 13 strikeouts while only allowing three hits.
Meanwhile, Phillips, also a senior, primarily worked as the Trojans' pitcher and shortstop this spring. Phillips helped T.V. to a 9-3 record in division play (17-9 overall) and a share of the IVC South title with the Indian Valley Braves.
Fittingly, Phillips was coached by his father Jason, who earned IVC South Coach of the Year honors, while Strasburg's Mike Becker earned IVC North Coach of the Year for taking the Tigers to a 10-2 North record (15-12 overall), which earned Strasburg their first IVC title since 1991.
