Garaway wins Division II sectional boys golf tournament

WEST LAFAYETTE - The Garaway Pirates shot a tournament-best 317 as a team in the Division II sectional boys golf tournament on Monday at River Greens Golf Course, advancing the Pirates to the Div. II districtct tournament next week at EagleSticks Golf Club in Zanesville.

Zehnder Gibson led the way for Garaway with a 1-over 73, while Rendall Weaver (77, +5), Charles Beachy (82, +10) and Michael Blauch (85, +13) posted scores for the Pirates.

The Carrollton Warriors finished as the runners-up at 325, with Colton Moore leading the way with 78 (+6).

Garaway and Carrollton, along with John Glenn (3rd place, 334) and Philo (4th place, 354), will advance as team's to next week's district tournament.

Four individual golfers will also advance to EagleSticks, including Sandy Valley's senior and reigning IVC Player of the Year Connor Ritter (73, +1). Minerva's Lucas Kimble (78, +6), Ridgewood's Charlie Kilpatrick (82, +10), and Indian Valley's Austen Gunn (87, +15) also advanced as individuals, with Gunn beating Braves teammate Rafe Bonifay in a two-hole playoff for the final spot.
