New Philadelphia, Ohio - New Philadelphia police say a Dennison man is being charged with multiple offenses including OVI after rear-ending an ambulance Friday evening.

The accident occurred just after 10 p.m. at the intersection of Wabash Avenue and Third Street and involved a Smith ambulance and a Honda Civic.

Officer Wayne Clark says the ambulance was struck from behind by the Civic while stopped at a four-way stop. He says no one was injured but the ambulance did sustain some minor damage.

“I think there was some minor damage to the stepping platform and probably to the bumper. I’m not sure about if the doors open properly or not. I couldn’t tell you for sure,” he says.

The driver of the Civic was 23-year-old Blake Albaugh of Dennison. He was charged with failure to maintain a clear assured distance, OVI, open container, and driving under suspension. He’s scheduled to appear Thursday in New Philadelphia Municipal Thursday for arraignment.
