NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) - The Little Theatre is taking their Christmas show characters beyond the stage this year as a part of the holiday performance.

Director Kathy Blair-Bergstrom says characters from “Junie B in Jingle Bells Batman Smells” will be doing Christmas crafts with kids this Saturday from 2 until 5 pm at the Dover Masonic Temple. She says it’s an opportunity to explore their characters and interact more closely with the kids.

“They really enjoy interacting with the kids. It’s a lot of fun, a lot of improv. It gives them a chance to play their characters more and just have fun with it, especially when you’re dealing with little kids because you never know what they’re gonna say or do,” she says.

On-stage performances continue tonight at 7:30 featuring the characters from the Junie B best-selling children’s book series. Bergstrom says after each show, children will have some extra characters to meet as well.

“All the kids will be invited to come and meet Santa. He’ll be making a special appearance after each show, and they can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and get a picture taken,” she says.

Tickets for shows or to the Christmas crafts event can be found through the Little Theatre’s website or on the Performing Arts Center website. Showtimes are at 7:30 Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Sunday matinees begin at 2:30 both weeks.
