Tuscarawas County, Ohio - The county commissioners are making a slight change to their meeting schedule for 2019.

Newly-appointed Board of Commissioners President Joe Sciarretti says they decided to go with an earlier time this year for their Wednesday afternoon meetings.

“One slight variance that you’ll see is on Wednesdays where we just for the past two years met at 3 o’clock, we decided that we would be meeting at 1 o’clock,” he says.

Sciarretti says they felt the earlier time would be more convenient for residents while giving the commissioners some additional flexibility in the afternoon.

“This gives folks the same opportunity to come in, maybe a little bit closer to their lunch hour, and at the same time gives us more the meat of the day in terms of what we need to facilitate right then after the meeting,” he says.

Sciarretti says the public is always welcome to attend those meetings or their Monday morning meetings that will continue to be held at 9 am.

“They’re posted well in advance. For those who have items, of course, they have to get it in the previous day, but to come in and listen, to ask questions, to enlighten us on something that may be going on in their neighborhoods, certainly the door is always open. This is their house, so we welcome that.”

Meetings are in the William E. Winter’s Boardroom on the second floor of the Tuscarawas County Courthouse Annex in downtown New Philadelphia. The only exception is the Monday of Fair Week when the meeting will be held in The Clover Cafe at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds in Dover.
