NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) - Holiday joy is taking over downtown streets this weekend.

The New Philadelphia Christmas parade steps off at 6:30 pm tonight from Tuscora Park onto North Broadway. Rick Arredondo of the New Philadelphia Business and Community Association says they typically have about 75 units in it, and he has been encouraging even more groups and organizations to join.

“It represents the fiber of our community, so we’re made up of not only people that live here but nonprofits, small businesses and large corporates,” he says. “I think it’s a chance to go out and celebrate and also to be part of something very beloved in this community.”

Meanwhile, Dover has its annual Christmas parade Saturday starting at 5 pm.
