NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) - The year’s top achievements in business and community involvement will take center stage next month at the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce annual awards celebration.

President and Ceo Scott Robinson says the chamber will honor the Large Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Educator of the Year, and Citizen of the Year, among other awards.

“It certainly is one of the highlights for the staff of the chamber that we get to recognize a number of these different businesses that are the recipients of our annual awards,” he says. “It’s a very special night for all involved, and many people feel it’s quite an honor to be recognized by their peers and also the business community here in Tuscarawas County.”

Robinson says last year’s Citizen of the Year was Bruce James, CEO of Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, who was recognized for leading the hospital as moved under the Cleveland Clinic umbrella.

“That certainly was a lengthy project and really has hopefully turned out for the betterment of the community, so that’s certainly one example of someone that has gone about and beyond to look out for the community,” he says.

The 61st annual awards celebration will take place January 22nd at the Kent State Performing Arts Center. People can call the chamber or visit its Facebook page to make a reservation.
