Strasburg will play Week 7 playoff vs Monroe Central despite COVID scare

STRASBURG, Ohio - After seeing their Week 6 matchup with Tuscarawas Central Catholic postponed due to players being exposed to a positive COVID-19 case, the Strasburg Tigers are set to play in the opening state playoffs round at Woodsfield Monroe Central on Saturday, Oct. 10.

The Tigers are currently ranked seventeenth in the Division VII, Region 27 bracket and will play the sixteenth-seeded Seminoles at Monroe Central Football Field. Game time is to be announced at a later time. The winner of that game will move on to the next round of the playoffs, to face off with top-seeded Glouster Trimble.

The opening playoff round, which was originally scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9, now allows the Tigers to play after the two-week quarantine period ends for the exposed players.

Strasburg initially had games scheduled for Weeks 8, 9, and 10 in case their playoff matchup would not be played, but Strasburg athletic director Gary Spinell confirmed to Tusco TV that those game dates are subject to change based on date, time, and opponent.

As for the Tigers' canceled game against Tuscarawas Central Catholic, Spinell says a decision is yet to be made on if that contest can be rescheduled.
