IVC officials announce new fees to local sports livestreams, broadcasts

By Mitch Spinell

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio - The Inter-Valley Conference has voted to charge a fee of $150 per event for media outlets to cover football, boys' basketball, and girls' basketball, effective in the 2021-22 high school season, according to a statement from IVC commissioner Don Spinell Wednesday.

Radio and tape-delay broadcasts will remain at $50 per event.

"Many feel a live streamed event will also hurt the home schools gate," said Spinell in the release. "So we added in an agreement that any school that has their own live stream (School related) can not travel on the road.  This agreement was met with a 14-0 vote of the schools."

Due to the events of the COVID-19 pandemic, many programs opted to live stream their sporting events last school year on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube.
