DOVER (Tusco TV) - The Tuscarawas County Humane Society is inviting pet owners to bring their dogs out this weekend for a dip in the pool as a final farewell to summer.

Shelter Director Haley Predragovich says their annual Dog Days of Summer pool party is back at the Dover City Pool from 1 to 4 pm this Sunday after a year-long hiatus.

"We have done this about every year except for last year. There was a little bit of oops in our part for last year but we have it back up this year," she says.

Predravogich says for $5 each, dogs can enjoy the pool before its drained for the season. She says the only catch is that owners won’t be able to get in the pool with them.

"The dogs are able to get into the pool and swim. The only rule about it really is that humans are not allowed to be in the pool with the animals because there won’t be any lifeguards on duty, and so by law humans are not allowed in," she says.

Predragovich says the event is a chance for people to get together, have a good time with their pets and help raise some funds for the nonprofit animal shelter.
