NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) – The city’s police department is investigating a three-vehicle crash that left two people with reported serious injuries Tuesday night.

Captain Rocky Dusenberry says two motorcycles were traveling on South Broadway over the bridge by Buehler’s about 6:40 pm when a Buick SUV heading southbound went left of center, side-swiping the lead rider and hitting the second motorcycle head-on.

Helicopters were called to the scene. Dusenberry says it’s unclear from the report whether any victims were flown to hospitals, but he does say both riders were transported for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately available.

Dusenberry says investigators will continue to look into what caused the SUV driver to veer across lanes. The crash had South Broadway closed down part of the evening while emergency responders handled the scene.
