Quaker Cinema set to re-open in April

By Mitch Spinell

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio - The Quaker Cinema announced on its Facebook page it would reopen in April.

The only indoor cinema complex in Tuscarawas County announced the following in their most recent post:

"In June 2020, we posted that three steps needed to be met before we could reopen: 1) permission from the State of Ohio; 2) compliance with state and local guidelines; and 3) Hollywood cooperation.

"Steps 1 & 2 were met months ago. Accomplishing Step 3 has been more of a challenge . . . until now. The Quaker Cinema will reopening in April. Details to follow."

The Quaker's owner Judge Michael Ernest told Tusco TV in February the theater could re-open in late March if Hollywood film distributors were releasing new pictures at the time. Many theater chains are open for new releases, along with relative streaming services.

While no specific new films have been announced for release at the Quaker at this time, some major movies coming out in April include: Mortal Kombat (April 16), Tom Clancy's Without Remor
