Eric Jurkovic named West Holmes District superintendent

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio - Eric Jurkovic will be introduced as the new superintendent of West Holmes Local School District at this Monday's Board of Education meeting.

Jurkovic, who most recently held the position of principal of New Philadelphia High School for the last ten years, also has experience as an elementary school and special education teacher, and middle school principal.

Jurkovic's hiring will be made official at the regular session of the board, which Jurkovic will attend, scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at Nashville Elementary School.

West Holmes' search for a new superintendent began at the end of February, with the assistance of the Ohio School Boards Association The search was a result of the unexpected death of Aaron Kaufman last July. Kaufman, formerly the principal of West Holmes High School, was to succeed the retiring Bill Sterling as superintendent at the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
