Oak Shadows bought for $2.3 million, will remain golf course

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio - William Stokey and sons Mike and Steve bought the Oak Shadows property for $2.3 million in a Saturday auction, and say they plan to keep their new land as the longtime local golf course.

The Stokeys, who also bought the Union Country Club in Dover this past summer (and will assume ownership in 2021), are the owners of Allied Machine and Engineering.

The Stokeys emerged as the successful bidder shortly after noon, when they offered to buy the whole 280-acre property for $7,500 an acre, plus a 10% buyer's premium.

Oak Shadows, which was founded in 1995, was formerly was owned by the late Virginia and Charles Deeds of Dover. Their son, C. Jason Deeds, of Dover, wished the new owners of the golf course "much success" in a Saturday news release.
