Tuscarawas County, Ohio - County residents can now enjoy one of their favorite pastimes while doing their laundry thanks to a partnership with the Tuscarawas County Public Library System.

The library has placed a purple book cart full of discarded library books in the Wilkshire Laundromat in Bolivar and the Suds Plaza in Sugarcreek. The carts were built and painted by students in Tim Northrop's construction technology class at Buckeye Career Center.

Public Relations Associate Megan Kovalaske Grimm says they're hoping to make going to the laundromat a more enjoyable and educational experience for local families.

"Washing clothes can be a daunting task especially with little ones in tow," The County Library system hopes to help those waiting by providing everything from children's books to cookbooks to help pass the time," she says.

Grimm says the concept is very similar to the library system's Little Free Library initiative where users are encouraged to take a book and leave a book. She says both seek to spread a love of reading by sharing and encouraging others to share materials.

Grimm says they're planning to place carts in two additional laundromats later this year.
