Deadlines approaching for Home Relief program qualfications

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio - Eligible Ohioans who are behind on their rent, mortgage, or water/sewer bills during the COVID-19 pandemic may qualify for the Home Relief Grant through its December 30, 2020 application deadline.

Those in Ohio, including Tuscarawas County, will be able to apply through their local Community Action Agency. Funds are also available to help get families get caught up on past due balances (back to April 2020).

Households with an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines will be eligible for assistance.

Applicants must include the names of all household numbers; date of birth; Social Security number; a current/previous address; copies of Social Security cards or verification for each household member; proof of income for all household members 18 years or older for a minimum of the past 30 days; any supporting documentation to demonstrate need; proof of hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those looking to apply for Rental Assitance will also need to provide an eviction or past due rent notice (which should include total amount due, including fees); justification for a potential moving (i.e. currently homeless, living with another family without sufficient space, etc.); and landlord contact information and lease agreement.

Mortgage Assistance will also require a notice of late mortgage payment (including taxes and insurance), while Utility Assistance applicants must provide a copy of their utility bill demonstrating their account has been shut off, is in disconnect status, or is past due.
