ZOAR - Battle lines are being drawn in Historic Zoar as volunteers prepare the village for this weekend’s Civil War Reenactment.

Site Manager Tammi Shrum says more than 500 re-enactors will re-create the Battles of Mule Shoe and The Wilderness from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 4. Shrum says they’ll also have Civil War-related activities going on all weekend with the historic village also open for tours.

"Not only can you come and visit the re-enactment but all of the museums will be open, President Lincoln will be on site, Robert E. Lee, Confederate President Jefferson Davis, so we have the different history characters plus the museum buildings and a wagon ride," she says.

Shrum says this is one of the village’s largest events, and she says they’ve been working for weeks to get everything ready.

"There’s a lot of logistics that go into putting on a Civil War event, especially of this magnitude. Plus, we have our Civil War School Day that we’ve been planning and also we’ve been partnering with Camp Tuscazoar to get an American Heritage badge for Boy Scouts to earn and Girl Scouts to earn their American Heritage badge over the weekend, so there’s a lot of extra logistics," she says.

Admission is $10 for adults and teens and free for children 12 and under for entry the entire weekend.
