Canton Police Chief Jack Angelo says officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 500 block of 19th St NW on Monday September 14th at 7:50 p.m. The caller advised that a victim had been shot and they were transporting the victim via private vehicle to Mercy Medical Center.
Officers responded to both the shooting location and the hospital, that's when they learned the victim was a 6 year old boy.
An 11-year-old male at the scene of the shooting was identified as the alleged shooter by responding officers at he scene. The 11-year-old was taken into custody and charged with Reckless Homicide. The 6-year-old victim died at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.
The Canton Police Detective Bureau continues to investigate how the firearm used in the fatal shooting was obtained by the juvenile.

The names of the juvenile victim and suspect are both being held at this time.
