Nonprofits affected by COVID-19 may apply for CARES Act grants

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio - Nonprofit organizations that provide services to low income and at-risk Ohioans can apply for federal grants if they were financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a press release by Tuscarawas County Job and Family Services, nonprofits can apply for CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act grants to help with potential losses resulting from the pandemic.

An organization must be 501(c)(3) and have reduced or stopped services to low-income or at-risk Ohioans due to the pandemic and must complete and submit their application for grants from https://jfs.ohio.gov/nonprofitgrants/, listed by November 27, 2020.

Up to $25 million in grant money is available and those who apply will be notified of their approval or denial by December 11, 2020. The awards will then be distributed by December 21.

Funds may be used for staff whose work duties were directly related to responding to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Organizations who already received (or established eligibility to receive) Coronavirus Relief Funds from the state or other federal CARES Act grants are not eligible.
