Uhrichsville, Ohio - A Newcomerstown high school teacher is facing criminal charges for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with one of his students.

Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s detectives said in a news release that 33-year-old Adam Lefler was taken in custody Tuesday after Uhrichsville Police found him parked outside Claymont Center with a 16-year-old student. Lefler is being held at the Tuscarawas County Jail on one count of sexual battery and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Newcomerstown Superintendent Jeff Staggs issued a statement calling the allegations against the man who also serves as their high school drama director “shocking and disturbing.”
