Dover Library to host The Athletic's Zack Meisel for book review March 16

By Mitch Spinell

DOVER, Ohio - Zack Meisel, Cleveland native and writer for The Athletic, will review his book Cleveland Rocked: The Personalities, Sluggers & Magic of the 1995 Indians on Tuesday, March 16 at 6:30 PM on Zoom.

In addition to sharing details about the team’s path to the World Series that year, Meisel will invite participants to join in an open forum about the 2021 season and the state of baseball in Cleveland.

Meisel’s book Cleveland Rocked: The Personalities, Sluggers & Magic of the 1995 Indians was released in 2020, which marked the 25-year anniversary of the winning team that brought fans to their feet. As the title of the book suggests, the people of northeast Ohio packed the stands at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario to see their favorite players: Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez, Omar Vizquel, Albert Belle, and Kenny Lofton. After triumphing over the Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners in the playoffs, the Indians advanced to the World Series for the first time in over four decades, where they lost to the Atlanta Braves in six games.

Meisel has covered Cleveland sports (including the Indians) for the last decade, including the last four years for The Athletic. He previously worked at Cleveland.com and MLB.com. A 2011 graduate of The Ohio State University, Meisel is also the author of The Ohio State Buckeyes Fans' Bucket List and 100 Things Indians Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die.
