UHRICHSVILLE (Tusco TV) - Firefighters say a cash reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for a blaze inside a vacant west-side house last week.

Uhrichsville Fire Chief Justin Edwards says they responded shortly after 3 pm Thursday to a house in the 700 block of West Fourth Street after a neighbor spotted smoke coming from the unoccupied two-story structure.

"Firefighters arrived. They found heavy smoke coming from an upstairs bedroom of the home. The home was vacant, and they were successful in extinguishing the fire. They probably had it under control in 10 to 15 minutes," he says.

Edwards says the incident is being investigated by the state fire marshal’s office as a possible act of arson with the Ohio Blue Ribbon Arson Committee offering a $5,000 cash reward to anyone who can identify the person responsible.

"They can call the police department, 740-922-1212, or the fire department, 740-922-1243," he says.

Edwards says the house has smoke and fire damage throughout and water damage on the first floor.
