DOVER (WJER) - The community is getting its annual chance to be Santa’s helper for families in the local Share-A-Christmas program.

The WJER -Indian Valley FFA Toy Drive is Wednesday from 7 am to 7 pm at the radio station on the Boulevard in Dover. T4C Director Louise Worsham says all you have to do is pull through the parking lot, and the students will collect your new and gently used toys for children 12 and under, and bicycles for kids and adults.

“They will come to your car. They will unload your car, put it in their trucks and trailers, and then they will take it from there to our distribution site. It couldn’t be any simpler than that,” she says.

Worsham says volunteers will also be accepting monetary donations to help T4C provide clothing vouchers for participating families. She says so far they’ve collected about $61,000 of the roughly $80,000 they’re going to need.

“We also have been doing donations, accepting donations of socks, underwear, hats, mittens. We’ve had a great outpouring of that and so things are looking very good at this point,” she says.

Worsham says they have nearly 2,900 people signed up for Share-A-Christmas this year, about half kids and half adults, representing 912 application families in all.
