DOVER - The Tuscarawas County Fair is kicking into high gear this weekend with grandstand events celebrating the awesome force of mechanical power.

Friday’s Fair Pull will feature four classes of trucks and tractors demonstrating their extreme hauling abilities before monster truck mania takes over on Saturday and Sunday’s Demolition Derby brings fair week to a crashing halt.

Monster Truck Show Chair Dave Miller says they have four massive pickups coming in for Saturday’s event to race around and smash some cars. He says there’s also going to be a “pit party” happening before it starts.

“They can come in prior to the show and get up close and personal with the trucks, check them out,” he says.

Derby Chair Ed Corpman says while other derbies have seen dwindling participation, theirs gets bigger every year.

“I went to a couple fairs this year. They asked me to come and help them and see what they're doing to help get things better. I don’t know what’s going on. Stark County had 21 cars. Carroll County had 23. Coshocton is no longer having them. We did over 120.”

Grandstand seating is reserved for all three events. Tickets are $5 per person, sold trackside on the night of the event or in advance by calling 330-343-0524.

Other fair highlights for the weekend include the Junior Fair Dairy and the Animal & Me shows on Friday; the Cloverbud Round-Up, Junior Fair Super Showmanship event; and Kiddie Tractor Pull on Saturday; Open Class Beef and Goat events on Sunday; and Harness Racing Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
