NEW PHILADELPHIA (Tusco TV) - United Way of Tuscarawas County officials are thanking the community for helping them make their third-annual HARCATUS Head Start school supply collection another huge success.

Community Resources Coordinator Susan Reidenbach says they held their annual Stuff the Bus collection August 2nd and 3rd at the New Philadelphia Walmart. She says they ended up with so many supplies that they had to unload the bus three or four times, plus quite a few monetary donations.

"This community is so generous, and what’s fun is that is also Hall of Fame weekend, so we see a lot of out-of-towners even coming in and supporting. They see the bus out in the parking lot and they want to take part and help support," she says.

Reidenbach says they’ve also had some great support from the local businesses including from a local accounting firm that provided more than 900 pounds worth of donations.

"We picked up eight full, full boxes from Novogradac and Company, but we had the local financial institutions involved. We had Rea & Associates, Inca Presswood Pallets, RJ Cylinder, Timken, Allied Machine," she says.

Reidenbach says HARCATUS officials will be inventorying the donations and should have everything counted up in the next couple of weeks. She says they’re also still waiting on a few more collection boxes to come in to help boost that total.
