UHRICHSVILLE (Tusco TV) - Two accidents of opposite sides of the city have Uhrichsville's fire chief reminding drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians to look out for one after when they're out and about.

Justin Edwards says their squad was called out twice in two days for bicyclists struck by cars. The first was an adult who got hit Monday on East Third Street, and the second was an 8-year-old who was struck on McConnell Street Wednesday afternoon.

“The first incident was on 6-17 around 5 o’clock in the afternoon. I believe and adult was struck by a car, and the second incident was on 6-19, a pedestrian was struck, a juvenile. I don’t believe either patient required transport to the hospital in either incident. They were both very lucky,” he says.

Edwards says drivers need to be even more watchful this time of year because the summer weather has a lot more people out, and he says people riding and walking need to do their part too by making sure they're watching out for traffic.

“It goes along with it now being summertime and pedestrian traffic being a little heavier in the city. Obviously, the kids are out playing and riding bikes and so on and so forth, so we just ask that motorists, as well as the pedestrians, do due diligence to pay attention,” he says.

The driver involved in the first incident told police the adult bicyclist turned out from Thomspon Street in front of her from and she didn't have time to react.
