New Philadelphia, Ohio (WJER) - City firefighters say the cause an early morning structure fire in Goshen Township remains under investigation. Lt. Bobby Smith says they were called out about 5:30 to find a fully involved trailer fire at 5165 Echo Lake Road.

“Our shift captain got their first and reported that we did have a working fire. When our first engine pulled up on scene, we found heavy fire coming from two windows on the back side of the mobile home,” he says. “We were able to darken the fire through the window and then went through the door and were able to knock down the rooms that were on fire.”

Smith says the residents were able to make it out on there own before calling 911. He says crews were on scene for a total of about an hour.

“No injuries. Everybody did fine. Of course, we had a lot of help from the Dover Fire Department, and Uhrichsville Fire Department stood by as our rapid intervention team, and Smith Ambulance was out there too and is always much appreciated,” he says. “Everybody worked really well together as always.”

Smith says fire damage is mostly reserved to the back of the home, with smoke and heat damage throughout. He says the family will have to find alternative living arrangements.
