New Philadelphia, Ohio (WTUZ)  – Residents are invited to step back in time to learn about what life was like on the Ohio frontier.

This Saturday at Schoenbrunn Village, adults and children can learn everyday 18th century skills including fire starting, candle making, woodworking, and hunting skills.

Site Manager Deidra Lute explains that each skill session begins on the hour starting at 10 am and runs for 45 minutes.

She points out that these skills are not taught anymore but make up our past.

“That makes us who we are today. To be out there in the village and to learn what life was like, it helps you appreciate how our life is today but it also helps you appreciate the history of where we came from.”

Registration is not required for the frontier skill sessions that run at the same time.

Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for those 60 or older, and $4 for children ages 6 to 17. - Mary Alice Reporting
