New Philadelphia, Ohio (WJER) - Coordinators are reminding drivers they’ll be sharing some roads with runners this weekend between Dover and New Philadelphia.

The 12th annual Run for Home races and fitness festival are happening again out of Tuscora Park. Race Director Matt Ritzert says Saturday will include the 10k race, a one-mile fun run and the kids run. Sunday at 11 will be the half-marathon, team relay and five-mile walk. There will also be a health and wellness fair from 8 am to 1 pm with about a dozen vendors.

“We’re looking forward to a good weekend. The weather forecast looks great. We’ve got a full slate of activities planned. We invite everybody to come out to the Tuscora Park pavilion or dining hall,” he says.

Ritzert says the half-marathon, team relay and five-mile walk then begin at 11 am Sunday. He says the number of runners who have registered to participate is down slightly compared to past years.

“With the good forecast for the weekend, we’re hoping for some walk-ups, and registration remains open for all of the events right up until race time,” he says.

Ritzert says the Run for Home events raised $15,000 for Habitat For Humanity Of East Central Ohio last year.
