By Mitch Spinell

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio - Jeffery Williams has been hired as the new assistant superintendent of New Philadelphia City Schools, effective Aug. 1.

Williams, who returns to New Philadelphia after six years as an administrator within Garaway Local Schools, will be succeeding Amy Wentworth, who was promoted to superintendent in July.

“New Philadelphia City Schools is an outstanding school district with stakeholders that are extremely supportive and put the needs of students at the center of everything they do,” Williams told The Times-Reporter.

Williams spent three years as principal of Ragersville and Baltic Elementaries while in Garaway's school system, and has experience in coaching athletics for New Philadelphia. He coached boys’ middle school track and girls’ middle school basketball coach from 2010 to 2015.
