NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) - Tuscarawas County’s Metropolitan Sewer District could be gaining some new customers in bulk as they enter negotiations with the village of Bolivar.

Director Mike Jones says the county commissioners authorized him to work out a deal with village leaders to supply the town’s water through the Wilkshire Hills plant. Jones says they already have everything they need to run water to the village thanks to two emergency lines.

“So if the village lost their source of supply or we lost our source of supply, we have an interconnection with another system. Those were put in place I think in the mid-’90s,” he says.

Jones says they will install master meter’s on their supply lines to the village.

“However much water goes through those meters, the village will receive a bill from the county,” he says.

Bolivar residents currently hooked up to the village system would still pay their utilities to the village who will be handling residential billing.
