Uhrichsville, Ohio - A returning city councilwoman is getting back up to speed after a short break from public service.

Uhrichsville Council veteran Linda Davis was back behind the council desk Monday after a coin flip won her the Ward 4 seat recently vacated by Cathy Cottis. Davis says she ultimately regretted deciding not to run again for council-at-large, and so she was grateful for the opportunity to get back to serving the community.

"Stepping away was getting new blood in was my thought," she says. "But the more I thought of it, I missed being involved with the city and stuff like I love to do, so that’s why I came back."

Davis says she’ll be taking it slow for a little while as she works to get caught up on what she’s missed this past year.

"Just kind of like dip the big toe in right now until I go back and read past minutes here and see what all they have really been discussing, things that went into committees that might still be in committees," she says. "I just need to do some past reading here right now."

Council President Mark Haney says Davis brings to the table a wealth of knowledge from her 20 years as a Uhrichsville public servant.

"Her experience is greatly appreciated. She’s served as the clerk. She was the clerk when I first came on, and then she became a councilwoman. I sat across from her, and then she served under me as at-large also," he says.

Davis says she plans to run for re-election this fall after completing the remainder of Cottis’ term.
