TUSCARAWAS COUNTY - Tuscarawas County Public Library patrons can increase their technology knowledge this summer by attending a free computer or software training classes.

Computers for Beginners will be held on June 12th at 10 am at the KSU Tuscarawas Academic Learning Commons (330 University Dr. NW, New Philadelphia).

Microsoft Word for Beginners will be held on June 20th at 10 am at Ohio Means Jobs Tuscarawas County (1260 Monroe St. NW #35, New Philadelphia)

Computer Basics: Organizing Computer Files will be held on July 23rd at 10 am at KSU Tuscarawas Academic Learning Commons (330 University Dr. NW in New Philadelphia)

TCPL Director Michelle McMorrow Ramsell says all three of these free classes were designed with the beginner computer user in mind. 

The classes are free to attend, but space is limited and registration is required. People can register by calling the Main Library at 330-364-4474.

Emerging Technology Associate Virginia Wright says people there are also self-guided courses for anyone unable to attend an in-person class. She says the courses are available online through the library's Lynda.com database and can be accessed by patrons for free with their library card.

"Lynda.com has a wide variety of self-paced classes from computer basics to software courses," said Wright. "There are also 50 different learning paths to help users stay ahead in their current job or change careers."

The library also offers one-on-one training opportunities for anyone with specific questions about things like accessing and downloading the library's free digital resources or using the library's MakerSpace.
