New Philadelphia, Ohio - Trooper Jonah Carson of Zanesville is being recognized by his peers for his exemplary work.

Carson previously received Post Trooper of the Year honors for his work at the New Philadelphia Post, and now he's been recognized as the Trooper of the Year for the entire Cambridge District.

Carson became a trooper in 2016 and worked at the New Philadelphia Post until transferring to Zanesville this past October.

He was selected by his peers for his strong work ethic, willingness to always help others, and his professionalism. His colleagues say he has been a driving force in the success of the posts he has worked at in crash reduction efforts, removing impaired drivers from the roadways, and apprehending people involved in criminal activity.

Carson is a 2011 graduate of John Glenn High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Muskingum University. He was a member of the 160th class of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy.

He is now in contention with eight other troopers across the state for the honor of being named the 2018 Ohio State Trooper of the Year.
