New Philadelphia, Ohio (WJER) - The drizzle has made things tricky for drivers today, and for people just trying to walk across driveways or sidewalks.

State Highway Patrol New Philadelphia Post commander Lt. Mark Glennon says they’ve had reports of about 15 crashes between last night and late this morning in addition to what the sheriff’s office has been handling.

“Right now we’re handling a few crashes here and there. The problem is that the temperature is sitting around 30 degrees I believe and we’re getting rain, so it’s putting some slick spots on the roads,” he says.

Glennon says there were injuries in some of those crashes but nothing too serious so far.

“The crews are out. They’re salting the roads and doing the best that they can at this point in time. So if you know you’ve gotta get somewhere, give yourself some time to get there so that you don’t have to rush, slow your speed down, and make sure you’re safe,” he says.

Because of the weather, all of the school districts in Tuscarawas County ended up canceling classes today.
