NEW PHILADELPHIA (Tusco TV) - Tuscarawas County Humane Society officials are hosting adoption event in memory of a longtime supporter to find loving homes for some of the animals that have been at their shelter the longest.

Shelter Director Haley Predragovich says they’ll be having their 3rd-annual Brooke Fenton Adoption Event Saturday, Aug. 3rd, and Sunday, Aug. 4th, from 1 to 4 pm with adoption fees for all cats and any dog who has been at the shelter at least 60 days sponsored by Brooke’s family. Predragovich says they have numerous adoptable cats people can choose from and seven dogs who keep getting passed up through no fault of their own.

“They’re a little more shy here at the shelter just because they are nervous. They actually have all came in through our humane officer. They haven’t had the best of pasts but we are wanting them to have a much better future and we’re hoping to hopefully this event will get them to be looked at and get them adopted out,” she says.

Predragovich says this is a great opportunity for people to bring home a new canine or feline companion, but she says they do need to have an approved application on file ahead of the event.

“They can either come out to the shelter and do one here or they can also do one online on our website which is www.tuschumanesociety.com,” she says.

Predravogich says the event also includes a donation drive to collect items that are always in high demand at the shelter.

“Food, litter, cleaning supplies, dog treats and cat treats, laundry soap. People don’t think about laundry soap, dish soap, trash bags and things like that. Those are definitely items that people don’t realize that we do need but they’re always a necessity here at the shelter,” she says.

A complete list of needed items can be found on the Tuscarawas County Humane Society website
