DOVER (WJER) - A Tippecanoe woman is giving the public something they can enjoy to serve a cause near to her heart.

The Craft, Vendor & Car Show benefit for Community Hospice returns to the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds Saturday.  Organizer Shelby Gatts says hospice came through for both of her parents, so this is a way to give back to the non-profit organization.

“I actually got to see what hospice does inside the Truman House, and of course, my family never got a bill,” she says. “Then I started asking some questions, and of course, they have no state or federal funding, and I wanted to help.”

Gatts says the free entertainment includes the car show with trucks and motorcycle categories, a few bands that have donated their time to perform and also bounce houses.

“I’m really looking forward to it. Last year, we had 60 cars. I look for that number to double. It’s really nice,” she says. “Last year was just wonderful. This year, I just want it a little bigger except there’s going to be something for everybody to do.”

Gatts says they’re expecting over 60 crafters and vendors, just in time for Mother’s Day.

“The list just goes on with them. You never know what they’re gonna bring because they’re always changing up their crafts but I have seen so many beautiful things over the last three years come in there,” she says.

The whole event goes from 9 am to 6 pm Saturday at the fairgrounds. The car show will be from 1 to 4 pm.
