DOVER - Dover Public Library staff are inviting patrons of all ages to join them for a special holiday musical event.

"A Very Merry Ukulele" will be held at the library on December 11th at 6:30 pm. It will include instructions for beginner ukulele players as well as two bonus songs for more experienced participants. Participants can bring their own ukuleles, borrow a library ukulele, or simply sing along.  Songs include "Joy to the World," "Feliz Navidad," and "Jingle Bells." Handouts with chords and lyrics will be provided.

"The ukulele is such a joyful instrument," says Teen/Outreach Services Manager and amateur ukulele player Liz Strauss. "I hope we can share that joy at this program and provide a fun night of music and cheer for everyone who attends."

The event is free to attend but registration is appreciated. For more information or to register, call 330-343-6123 or stop by the library, located at 525 N. Walnut Street, across from Dover High School.

The library's ukulele programs are sponsored by a 21st Century Afterschool Learning Grant with Dover High School, which provides funds for educational and entertaining activities taking place outside the classroom. The library's 10 ukuleles, provided by the grant, are available for in-library practice upon request.
