NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) - Tuscarawas County voting officials are expecting a light day tomorrow for the primary election.

The ballot is highlighted by the Dover school district operating levy, while the Democratic mayors in Dennison and Uhrichsville face primary challengers. Board Of Elections Director Allan Sayre says voters should be able to get in and out tomorrow.

“Most everybody only has either one question, an issue to vote on, or there’s a couple [precincts] down in the southern part of the county that… have two questions or have a question or a candidate, but that’s it. [It’s] a very small ballot for everybody in the county,” he says.

Sayre says he thinks turnout will be relatively low.

“My hope is that as it gets closer and closer and we have some more news stories that it does pique interest and get people out to vote, either before here at the courthouse or on election day,” he says.

The board of election office still has early-absentee voting today from 8 am to 2 pm. Precincts with issues or races to vote on will be open tomorrow from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm.
