New Philadelphia, Ohio - The United Way of Tuscarawas County is partnering with HARCATUS Head Start to collect school supplies for area preschoolers as part of the second-annual Stuff the Bus campaign.

Donations will be collected this Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be distributed at a later date to Head Start classes throughout Tuscarawas County.

In addition to traditional back-to-school supplies, the program is also in need of pull-ups, unscented baby wipes, socks and underwear. A full list of needed items can be found at www.tuscunitedway.org

“This idea to reach out to the community for help will promote children’s learning and success. Every item donated will be so appreciated whether it is a box of crayons or a package of pull-ups,” says HARCATUS Head Start Director Nancy Reed.

HARCATUS Head Start serves approximately 350 children ages 3 to 5 from families with incomes at or below 100 percent of the Federal Poverty Level.

Companies interested in participating in this year’s campaign are asked to contact the United Way of Tuscarawas County to request a collection box. Boxes may be delivered to the New Philadelphia Walmart during collection hours this weekend.

Cash donations will also be accepted with checks payable to United Way of Tuscarawas County.
