Uhrichsville, Ohio - Kimble will remain the citywide trash and recycling service provider for the city of Uhrichsville for five more years.

On Thursday, members of Uhrichsville Council unanimously approved a five-year extension of the city’s existing trash and recycling contract with Kimble Companies.

Mayor Rick Dorland explains the city decided earlier in the year to bid out its trash and recycling contract, but at the end of the bidding period, the only bid that had been received was from Kimble.

“We initially bid it out because last time there was dissent that the voters didn’t have a say. We decided the best way to do it was to bid it out, and we did, and Kimble was the only one,” he says.

Rather than sign a new contract, Dorland says the city decided it would be more beneficial to extend its existing contract with the company.

Dorland says pickup days and times will remain unchanged, however, there will be a minimal rate increase of between 2 and 3 percent based on the latest Consumer Price Index, or CPI.

The new, five-year contract goes into effect October 1.
