UHRICHSVILLE (Tusco TV) - City officials are solidifying Uhrichsville's Clay Museum partnership with a pair of updated lease agreements.

The agreements unanimously approved during last week's city council meeting include a new 10-year lease for the museum's current location on North Main Street and a 30-year lease for its future home on the corner of Main and East Third. Economic Development Committee Chair Eric Harmon says it’s an exciting time for the museum and the city.

"We’re seeing significant investments with the Uhrichsville Clay Museum transition, the downtown revitalization and the restoration of Big Ben Golf Course, so this will make for just another positive partnership between the City of Uhrichsville and the Uhrichsville Clay Museum," he says.

The museum’s parent organization, the Dennison Depot, will pay the city $10 per building per year under the terms of the agreements. They’ll also be responsible for utilities and upkeep, with the city designating $2,000 a year towards heating and cooling system maintenance. Harmon says the committee met with museum officials over the last several months to iron out terms that were favorable to both parties.

"Both lease agreements just needed updated, and there are new laws and regulations we had to work around so we had contacted the Clay Museum and we both agreed these are much-needed updates," he says.

Harmon the leases still need to be approved by the Depot’s board of directors, which should happen at their next meeting. He says having a long-term lease will give the museum access to more grant opportunities.
