Dover Township, Ohio (WTUZ) – Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left two men dead. 

On Saturday, New Philadelphia Post units responded around 3:25PM on Interstate 77 near milepost 82, at Dover.

An SUV driven by Walter Banks, of Canton, was traveling northbound in the southbound left lane. A Toyota minivan southbound on I-77, driven by Mohammed Luft-Abdullah Al-Samet, from Detroit, Michigan, was hit head on by Banks.

The Assistant Tuscarawas County Coroner was on scene and Banks was pronounced dead.

Al-Samet was transported to Union Hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and Troopers do not suspect alcohol or drugs in the on-going investigation.

Traffic was backed up on I-77 for several hours for this crash, as well as a second minor accident near the Schneider’s Crossing exit.  - Mary Alice Reporting
