Tuscarawas County, Ohio (WJER) - County officials say the road conditions Tuesday may have caught some drivers off guard.

Tuscarawas County Engineer Joe Bachman said his trucks were out most of the day treating isolated icy spots around the county, mostly in hilly areas.

“All the roads are navigable if everybody slows down,” he said. “It’s kind of the, if you want to call it, the first slow syndrome. People don’t realize that the roads might be slippery.

Bachman said the road conditions were worse than they appeared.

“It’s a dusting of snow and, in some cases, there is some ice on the road,” he said. “There are some slippery spots.”

He said he expected the roads to be better by the end of the day, even with a little more snow in the forecast.

“By the end of the day, everything should be in driveable condition,” he said.
