NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) - Share-A-Christmas organizers are getting everything in place for their 2019 campaign to assist families in need with gift-giving this season.

Co-chair Candy Beaber says they will begin interviewing families that want to apply for the program the week of November 4th at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia.

“All applicants must provide a social security number, proof of county residency — you must be in Tuscarawas County — and that could be a rent receipt, a driver’s license or a utility bill,” she says. “You also need proof of income for all the residents in the home and a list of all the people living in the house.”

Beaber says eligible families and individuals will again get clothing vouchers and food, in addition to toys for kids 12 and under.

“Many churches and businesses and organizations throughout the county will also be helping by sponsoring Share-A-Christmas trees. They’re asked to deliver their toys to our distribution site, which is the former JC Penney’s at New Towne Mall,” she says.

Share-A-Christmas signups run November 2nd-8th from 9 am to 3 pm at the church, located at 202 E. High Ave. The schedule is as follows based on the first letter of the applicant’s last name:

  • A – E: Monday, Nov. 4
  • F – K: Tuesday, Nov. 5
  • L – O: Wednesday, Nov. 6
  • P – S: Thursday, Nov. 7
  • T – Z: Friday, Nov. 8

An additional day reserved for non-English speaking county residents is offered from 8:30 a.m. to noon November 2nd. Interpreters will also be available November 4th, 5th and 6th until noon. Make-up dates are November 6th and 8th for those unable to apply on their assigned day.
