Uhrichsville, Ohio (WJER) - The city will have to wait a little while longer to figure out who will be its next law director.

Current law director Brett Hillyer has to step down as he gets set to become the 98th district state representative in January. Tuscarawas County Republican Party Central Committee Chair Joel Day says they tried to hold interviews for the position last week but nobody showed up.

Day says they were originally hoping to select a Uhrichsville Republican with legal experience to serve the two years left on Hillyer’s term. He says it will now be up to Mayor Rick Dorland to appoint somebody to fill the position.

“Because no candidates showed up tonight to show interest in the law director’s position, the responsibility of filling the vacancy now goes to the mayor of Uhrichsville, according to the Ohio Revised Code,” he says.

Dorland says two people are already showing some interest in the job, and they both seem equally qualified at this point.
