DOVER (Tusco TV) - United Way of Tuscarawas County officials are inviting area runners and walkers to help them kick off their next fundraising campaign.

Community Relations Coordinator Susan Reidenbach says their 11th annual Rock-N-Run is Saturday evening with a 5K race starting at 6:30 pm and a 10k kicking off at 7. Reidenbach says this is a way to promote healthy living while raising funds and awareness for their 2019 campaign.

“This week and next week we start with our education division. We have presenters presenting to all the Tuscarawas County area schools. We get our campaign material out there to their opening day meetings, so it kicks off with the Rock-N-Run, and then we roll into the education division, and then we roll out the full campaign to our corporate partners in September.”

Reidenbach says both races are timed and begin and end at the DoverPhila Federal Credit Union at 119 Fillmore Avenue. She says there will be a post-race awards ceremony where local gift certificates will be handed out to the top runners overall and the top three male and female finishers in each age group.

“Dick’s Sporting Goods has donated the gift certificates for the overall winners this year, and then we’ve had donations, the United Way board members gladly donate gift certificates to local businesses like Craft and Mustard’s and Pointe Cafe and Daily Grind along with Starbucks and Chipolote.”

Reidenbach says same-day registration begins at 5:45 pm, or people can sign up online before midnight Friday for a $5 discount. A registration link can be found at tuscunitedway.org/events.
