New Philadelphia, Ohio - The Tuscarawas County Public Library System is taking registrations for will its 5th annual 5K race.

The Doughnut Fun Run Challenge will be held on Saturday, April 13th, beginning at 10 a.m. Participants will start at the Main Library (121 Fair Ave NW), run through Tuscora Park where they will eat six glazed donuts, and run back to the library—all within 45 minutes. Participants can also opt out of the doughnut portion and run a traditional 5K.

Public Relations Associate Molly Calhoun says the idea for the Doughnut Fun Run came from a nationally recognized and popular charity race. She says they're excited to partner with Dough Co. again to bring the event back to Tuscarawas County.

Runners interested in participating can register at any of the library system's five locations. The form is also available to download from the library's website at www.tusclibrary.org.

The cost to register is $25 for adults and $15 for students ages 17 and under through March 16th. Race day registration fees are $30 for adults and $20 for students.

Runners will receive goodie bags the day of the race, and those who register before March 16th will also receive a t-shirt. Awards will be given to the top three male, female, and children who participate in the challenge.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the library system's programming fund. The library system provides a variety of free programs for kids, teens, and adults at all of its locations and through its Mobile Services Department.

Calhoun says this is a fun race for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Organizers are currently seeking sponsors for the event. For more information on the event or to inquire about sponsorship opportunities, call 330-364-4474 ext. 221.
