NEW PHILADELPHIA - Ohio Department of Transportation officials say Monday’s wet weather has them pushing back the start of two road construction projects in Tuscarawas County until later in the week.

ODOT District 11 spokesperson Lauren Borrell says crews were set to begin resurfacing 13.5 miles of state Route 93 between U.S. 250 and the Tuscarawas/Holmes County line Monday morning, but she says a rainy start to the week has delayed the start of that project.

“They make necessary pavement repairs and then they’ll go into full swing of resurfacing, so likely they’ll start that work at some time this week,” she says.

Borell says the rainy weather also has them postponing the temporary closure of state Route 39 from Horns Lane to Stonecreek Road for a culvert replacement. She says both projects will now begin Tuesday, weather permitting.

The culvert replacement will have SR 39 closed for two days between 7 am to 5 pm in both directions with traffic detoured to I-77. The resurfacing project will continue through mid-October with flaggers directing traffic.
