NEW PHILADELPHIA (Tusco TV) - State troopers are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a 38-year-old Dover area man early Wednesday morning.

New Philadelphia Post Sgt. Robert Simone says the crash occurred a little after 1 am on state Route 212 in Fairfield Township and when a Ford F250 went off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

“Upon further investigation, it was determined that the vehicle actually traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, a mailbox, then traveled back onto the roadway, across the center line and off the left side of the roadway before striking the tree,” he says.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. No one else was in the vehicle. Simone says they expect to release the man’s name sometime tomorrow after the remaining family members have been notified.
